You can't miss us. If it's too warm, our Burgundy jackets will be nearby. Come and visit us there on the fourth floor (Ballroom floor) near the escalators. It's the place to go if you need anything, to meet peers or to send or receive a message. BTW: We might even receive complaints there – but we'd rather not.

7. DON'T BE A GROUCH :( OK? :)
Your APC service team is ready – almost that is …
We can promise it's going to be quite a market place of ideas, networking, good food, good company and fun activities. In short there will be "buzz" on the conference floor - Join the buzz, enjoy the event. Learn from and interact with the 47 Gurus.
We tried to prepare well – and think we did! We arranged for 25 breakout sessions, trained the student volunteers, had problem prevention meetings with the hotel and other suppliers, are undertaking rehearsals with the production team, didn't forget the left-handed pens, have lots of prizes including a Wenger watch and a Victorinox Swiss Army knife for the Grand Prize Draw, Free Gourmet Coffee and Internet access, Head and shoulders massage, menus selected and printed in the handbook, et al.
But we have 225 VIPs – yes dear delegates, each one of you is our VIP – and you are not easy to please. From 18 countries, spread out over three hotels, arriving at different times, different requirements, some winners, some speakers, some just there to cheer! So…
Don't be a grouch please if in spite of all efforts, a few things don't happen the way you want it. Come to and learn, network and enjoy. It will be fun, but only if YOU allow it to be so.
We would like to thank all of you for registering. Your trip will be worth it. And we'd like to thank all of you who submitted entries, all the speakers, and judges again. Thank you Workshop Leaders and Plenary Presenters, Gurus all - delegates are looking forward to attending your sessions in Singapore very soon.

“I want to know how IP affects me at different stages in my work – from the Development stage to Pre/Post production to the Distribution stage.”
“How do I identify and acquire rights – for use of 3rd party materials, music clearance, and performer’s consent?”
“What are the IP issues surrounding distribution of original works online?”
“The virtual world is in the ‘in thing’ at this time. What should I be aware of when entering this realm?”
If these (and more…) are the burning questions on your mind then this programme is for YOU.
This is a 3 day modular structured training aimed at YOU, the producer, creator and user of content in the creative industry particularly in the fields of film, TV, animation and digital media.
After giving participants a bird’s eye view on the fundamentals of Intellectual Property, this programme zooms into practical issues involved in the production process, negotiation and contractual matters, to name a few.

Asian Publishing Convention Singapore - 14 & 15 August - Singapore Publishers
Dear Singapore Publishers,
Many have asked what can MPAS do for you.
The EXCO, voluntary as we were, tried our best.
FIPP World Magazine Marketplace Singapore in December 2007 as an international publishing trade event was a start to put MPAS on the global publishing platform and members were granted discount as delegates or as exhibitors.
Asia Publishing Convention Singapore in August 2008 is another and MPAS members are also granted discount as delegates or as exhibitors at the Fair. This event is closer to home as it is targeted at publishers within the Asia Pacific region while the Speakers invited are renowned practitioners on the international publishing arena.
So far only the following MPAS publishing companies in Singapore have signed up:
Alphabet Media
Appetite Media
Aboutwe
CR Media
Editec
RBI Asia
Lodestar Publishing
Ensign Media
SPH Magazines
Millionaire Asia
Asian Banker
Fairfax Business Magazines
Asia-City Publishing
Roof&Facade
There are still so many of you out there waiting, pondering, wondering......
PLEASE take a few moments to consider this and sign up as a delegate for yourself or your senior staff.
MPAS and the Organiser sincerely hope that SINGAPORE Publishers will have a strong showing to reflect Singapore's leadership in the magazine publishing arena in the Asia Pacific region. (Otherwise we will lose out to the more aggressive and promising emerging markets)
Do Register Now, it does not cost very much but the training and skills upgrading benefits to your staff and your business enhancement is priceless.
Best Regards
Ho Sum Kwong (SK)
President, MPAS 2008/09 |
